Our guide to Falmouth’s family friendly beaches

Beaches
Gyllyngvase beach
Gyllyngvase beach

great for watersports, swimming and sand castles
Right on our doorstep, Gyllyngvase beach is probably Falmouth’s most popular beach. With a prestigious Blue Flag award, it offers safe swimming and lots of facilities including toilets, lifeguard, deckchair hire, watersports hire and a family-run café.

Castle beach
Castle beach

great for rock pooling
Overlooked by Pendennis Castle, this beach is a good spot for rock pools and an afternoon picnic. There is a small café here, toilets, and a shop selling all the necessary buckets and nets you'll need for a fun rock pool safari.

Swanpool beach
Swanpool beach

great for crazy golf, watersports and ice creams
Follow the coast path from Gyllyngvase heading west over the headland for about 10 minutes to Swanpool - a sheltered sand and pebble cove with a bouncy castle, watersports hire, crazy golf and café. The children will love the quirky ice-creams you can find here, which are smothered in Cornish clotted cream then topped with a variety of extras.

Just inland is Swanpool Nature Reserve where you can see ducks, swans and the occasional kingfisher.

Maenporth beach
Maenporth beach

great for watersports
A further half an hours walk (or 10 minute drive if you're in a rush or laden with beach gear) is Maenporth beach. This quiet sandy beach is sheltered from the wind by low cliffs and offers watersports such as kayaking and windsurfing.
