After a blustery winter walk on the coast the perfect antidote is finding a roaring log fire and cosying up with an indulgent hot chocolate. Head to one of our favourite snugs...
Wonky thatched roof, low beamed ceilings, open fires. What could be more cosy on a cold day? The Pandora is a locals haunt and not-very-well-kept secret tucked on the banks of Restronguet creek, just a few miles from Falmouth. In the summer the pontoon of this 13th century pub is filled with tables of people munching on fresh crab, but the winter months are something special here. Snug private corners, the smell of woodsmoke and the crackle of the fire bewitch you as you while away stormy afternoons over hot chocolate, cream teas and happy smiles.
Just a ferry ride away this nautical pub overlooks the harbour and the stormy seas of Falmouth Bay. The cosy lounge has shelves full of books and board games so grab a sofa by the log burner and spend the afternoon reading, snoozing and playing games.
This pub takes the prize for the best woodburner - set directly into the wall in the bar, the furnace like fire will keep any chilly day at bay. Add to that river views and a chef trained at The Ivy and you've got a great evening on tap.
