Falmouth Beaches

Life's better at the beach

Falmouth is the perfect location for those looking for a coastal escape. Sand, stone and crystal clear waters make up the majority of Falmouth’s beaches, with plenty of options available to choose from.

No matter the weather, building sandcastles, rock pooling or taking a refreshing sea dip are great activities to pass the time and enjoy the wonders of the seaside.

Gyllyngvase Beach
Gyllyngvase Beach

Gyllyngvase Beach can be found just beyond our subtropical gardens. The sprawling sandy beach is sheltered and safe, a Blue Flag lifeguarded beach with crystal clear waters that make it a popular swimming spot all year round.

Enjoy spectacular sunrise strolls, beach yoga, and brilliant barbecues using the free beach equipment, or amble beyond Gylly. Head towards the gentle coast path, which leads towards further beaches and an unspoiled coastline brimming with natural wonders.

Take advantage of the public toilets, showers and car park for a fun day out at the seaside.

Castle Beach
Castle Beach

Nestled between Gylly and Pendennis Point you’ll find Castle Beach, perfect for those looking to explore some rockpools during their stay. This shingle beach provides dazzling views across Falmouth Bay and up to Pendennis Castle.

Discover incredible sea life as you explore the rockpools that appear at low tide, or take a dip in crystal clear waters at high tide before warming up with a hot drink from the beachside cafe.

Continue to follow the coast path up to Pendennis Point to experience panoramic views.

Swanpool Beach
Swanpool Beach

A mix of sandy and shingle beach, Swanpool is a short walk from St Michaels along the coast path.

Swanpool is dog-friendly from the 1st of September to the 31st of May each year, making it the perfect beach to take your favourite pooch for a swim or a walk along one of the surrounding coast paths.

Throughout the year you can also head down to take part in some exciting watersports and coasteering with Swanpool’s Elemental UK.

Dog-Friendly Beaches in Cornwall
Dog-Friendly Beaches in Cornwall

Each beach in Falmouth imposes a dog ban in the summer months, specifically between 10 am and 6 pm.

Both Castle and Swanpool Beaches enforce this ban between 1 Jul - 31 Aug each year, whereas Gylly’s dog ban comes into play between 15 May - 30 Sep.

Whilst the beaches in Falmouth enforce a dog ban, you can find a range of dog-friendly shingle beaches a short drive from Falmouth and coastal paths are free to use all year round.
