On its own peninsula with ever-changing views of the estuary of the River Fal, Trelissick has one of the most amazing natural settings in the country.

Trelissick really has something for everyone - runners and dog walkers can follow the riverside woodland paths, children can splash about on the beach or join in with the weekend woodland activities and families can enjoy the beautiful gardens and views down the river and out to sea. Trelissick House has recently been acquired by the National Trust and several rooms are now open including the dining room and orangery with their stunning views sweeping out over the estate and down to the river.

Our top five recommendations whilst at Trelissick are:

Watch for the wading birds frequent the estuary including oyster catchers and curlews. Trelissick is also an important area for diving birds and grebes, most notably Slavonian grebes which frequent the estuary during winter.

Its dog friendly woodland walks gives a great chance to take your four legged friend out on walks with fabulous views over Lamouth creek, Roundwood quay or from Trelissick beach.

There are more than 12 hectares of elevated garden to explore, with twisting paths that lead you through significant collections of hydrangeas, rhododendrons, camellias, ginger lilies and year-round exciting woodland plants.

As well as the garden, the 121-hectare estate, with its countryside, woodlands and coast, makes for breathtaking walks.

Trelissick also has its own renowned art gallery with a wide range of work from local Cornish artists.
