The benefits of probiotics
Personal TrainingJanuary media is always saturated with new healthy eating trends. One of those we’re getting excited about in 2018 is the consumption of probiotics.
Probiotics are living organisms that are found naturally in foods such as yoghurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, miso and kefir. They’re known as ‘good’ or ‘friendly’ bacteria and support digestive health by producing specific enzymes needed in the digestion of food and aiding the breakdown of foods substances. They can also improve the absorption of vitamins & minerals into the bloodstream, and support immunity by stimulating the body’s natural defences.
In addition, the bacteria may help burn body fat and reduce insulin resistance. So to keep healthy this 2018, consider adding more probiotic foods to your diet. Why not start by trying out this recipe for a probiotic infused Mango Lassi Smoothie!
Described as a cooling yoghurt drink, and popular throughout the Indian subcontinent, Lassi has a number of things to recommend it. First, it is utterly delicious, and secondly as well as being a probiotic, it also helps replenish energy levels, improves bone health, and aids in digestion.
