A day in Falmouth
FalmouthExploring as a single person can be a fantastic thing; however, some places are even better experienced with someone by your side. With its winding cobbled streets, cosy and intimate bars and restaurants, and beautiful scenic walks, Falmouth is the perfect place to enjoy with the one you love.
We’ve put together a suggested one day itinerary which makes the most of Falmouth’s romantic side.
Morning
After waking up in one of our beautiful rooms and opening the curtains to a (hopefully) glorious, sunny day, pop over to our restaurant and have a generous Full English (or something sweeter if you prefer), with views across Falmouth Bay. After having your fill, why not use your post breakfast energy to take a stroll up the coastal path towards Pendennis castle and explore the historical fortress, where you can also view both St Mawes and Gyllyngvase Beach from one spot.
If you need a pick me up or even fancy an indulgent second breakfast, mosey on into Falmouth town (a short 15 minute walk from Pendennis point towards to Dockyard) and you’ll find a number of enchanting and delicious brunch and coffee places. Our personal favourites are Espressini, Good Vibes and The Ope, all who serve top class hot and cold beverages and yummy treats, in cosy, quirky atmospheres.
Afternoon
Whilst you’re in the centre of Falmouth, take the opportunity to visit its numerous independent shops. Browse the yummy baked goods at Baker Tom’s, have a pint and peruse the many books in Beerwolf Books, or purchase some gorgeous, fresh houseplants and have a chat with the friendly shop owner in Toro.
Evening
Once the evening starts drawing in there are several fantastic places to find a pre-dinner cocktail in Falmouth’s main high street. Those worth a mention are Dolly’s Tea Room which has a selection of over 100 different types of Gin (cocktails are served in teapots and poured into vintage cups, with ice cubes in sugar bowls!), The Chintz Symposium a wine bar and cultural hub where you can see a range of different live acts from bands to comedy nights, and Hand Bar, a specialised Beer Bar selling over 80 different world beers.
After a long day of exploring, head back to St Michaels Hotel for a delicious 3 course dinner and relax into an ELEMIS bubble bath in your own private seaside sanctuary.
